The Chairman of Asharqia
Chamber, Abdulrahman bin Saleh Al Ataishan, said that the visit of US President
Donald Trump to the Kingdom is the first of its kind, that the new American
president will begin his first foreign tour of an Arab Islamic country,
stressing that this visit, along with the political advantages it reflects on
the centrality and importance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Middle East
and the Islamic world, showing the close political, economic and security ties
between the two countries, as well as promoting and expanding the historical
trade relations between the two countries, pointing that the US and
the Kingdom are linked by historical economic relations deep rooted for
decades, the United States is the largest economic and trade partner of the Kingdom,
noting that the Kingdom exports to the United States in 2016, according to
official statistics, approximately l661 billion riyals, and that the amount of
imports for the same year about 777 billion.

Ataishan expressed his optimism that the visit will enhance the relations
between the two countries in many fields, saying that in view of the positive
developments witnessed by the Saudi economy with the vision 2030 to diversify the
economic base of the country that allows US companies to open more factories in
the Kingdom, contributing to the creation of new employment opportunities for
the national workforce.
He
referred the positive progress in the Saudi American relations to several
factors, the great diplomatic and political effort led by His Royal Highness
Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, who was able to change by his
visit to the United States the
rules of the game in the Middle East, not to mention the package of positive
initiatives launched by President Trump himself once he ruled of the depth and
strength of strategic relations between Saudi Arabia and the United States.
